Process — From Pattern File to Viral 3D CampaignBridging OEM production and brand marketing through a single 3D pipeline

Context
During my time at Youngone, I held a dual role — 3D Designer for the OEM production side, and concurrently Project Manager for The North Face Korea's Olympic marketing team. This crossover position put me in a unique spot: I could see the same 3D asset from both a production-efficiency lens and a brand-marketing lens. Paris was a major marketing moment for the brand — a globally iconic setting that also carried strong emotional familiarity for Korean audiences — and the Team Korea uniform, with its bold graphic print, was the centrepiece of that push, sold not only to the national team but as a replica line in retail stores.

Process

The uniform's graphic was the hero element, so the pipeline started with the 2D artwork itself — original graphic files and heat-transfer print files from the design team, paired with the production team's final pattern once development was locked. I modeled and animated the garment in CLO 3D, then imported that file into Blender, where I composited it against open-source footage of Paris landmarks to produce a short 3D FOOH (Fake Out of Home) video — a format that was trending on social media at the time, designed to spark curiosity and drive purchase intent by placing the uniform somewhere recognisable and aspirational.

Impact

The finished video was published on the brand's official Instagram, and became one part of a broader marketing mix that spanned magazine editorial, on-the-ground media exposure at the Games, and this 3D-generated content — proving that the same CLO 3D asset built for sampling efficiency could be repurposed, at near-zero marginal cost, into a brand marketing deliverable.
